PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral

PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral

This year’s Color of the Year is in full swing coming to life to life as we dream of summer vacations and warmer temperatures. Here in Orlando, this beachy color can be seen on every corner as its warm glow tends to energize a space like no other.

“PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature.” Pantone.com

Its orangey pink hues make any space come to life with its fun shades ranging from dark to light. The color, named for the beautiful sea plant that thrives on ocean reefs, adds splashes of color to its underwater kaleidoscope.

There are so many colors that this year’s Color of the Year works well with, but if I had to pick just three, I’d choose the following:

An Ocean View – Coral, Navy, Gray

Gray skies and blue ocean colors make the perfect backdrop to the vibrant splashes of color found in coral.  This threesome color combination invokes a calm and relaxing state and can be used in a variety of ways throughout your home. With their bold contrast, they create a cohesive look that will add a touch of elegance and appease your eyes. When paired with grey and navy, coral gives a space a modern contemporary look whether at the beach or in a downtown condo. I love to add gold or silver accessories to this timeless combination that keeps the trio looking classy. My clients love it!

A Day at the Beach – Coral, Yellow, Aqua

Look to nature for colors that pair well together. Sun kiss your room with the colors of the beach …sun, sand, and the ocean. Coral and aqua, vibrant colors from the sea, plus the warmth of the yellow sun adds a sense of rest and relaxation to any space.

A Look of Elegance – Coral, and all things neutral

Nothing will make a neutral colored backdrop come to life than the bold statement of one color. Shades of coral look lovely when paired with grays, creams, white, tans and/or beiges. Vibrant coral accents will add excitement and energy to a room while a warm coral hue will add warmth and contrast to an otherwise plain color palette. Add a touch of metal to the mix and give the room a sophisticated feel.

Remember even the smallest splash of a coral color can breath new life into a room. For homeowners not wanting to commit to painting an entire wall coral, try adding just a few simple touches of color throughout the room. From window coverings to accessories these pops of color will make a room feel new again.
